In the wee small hours of the morning
eyes heavily yearn
for a dreamless sleep
but . . .
a cacophony of voices
argue in the non-silence
of an exhausted mind
awakened by
disturbing visions
of fearful escapes
from menacing fights
full of sharpness, blood and gore
and another dream of escape
through fast-moving water
down
crashing
water
falls.
Spinning tales of fear and worry
making it impossible
for me to return to sleep.
It never fails
a day full of new challenges
and responsibilities
follows a night
of doubts
of fears
of sadness
of despair.
Oh sleep!
I beg of you
please enter softly
whispering words of gentleness
and ease.
Cleanse me
with the rest I need
to face another day.

Wow!
The idea of the importance and healing power of sleep is so well described.
“please enter slowly”…as if waiting for a lover…to be gentle
brillant
loved it

This made me want a nap! Love the rhythm of the down crashing water falls. Wonderful!

To sleep . . perchance to dream . . .
Hope you catch up on your sleep soon. Insomnia sucks.

Well, if you are up in the middle of the night and I am up, we could always chat on Facebook.

I wish I could blame it on exams, but sadly it is just the chaos of my mind.

I was up all night last evening, and the Redneck Princess was up as well. Sounds like we all need a peaceful evening, restful sleep. Please?

Sandi,
I think we all need a middle of the night Skype session, or chat on Facebook when insomnia hits.

P.S. I plunder from Steve all the time. He has more pictures on line then I do.

Lack of sleep seems to be the curse of an active and creative mind! Glad you found some more uses for my photos

” . . . cacophony of voices/argue in the non-silence.” Perfect description of what insomnia usually does to your mind. Well-done, Lisa. Sleep well tonight!

Glad to know that I am not the only one who has heard the cacophony of voices.
