Inspired partially by Joss‘ response to my post about childhood memories I thought today I would simply share some clips and songs that never fail to bring me to that place where magic and miracles happen on a daily basis. Feel free to add more in the comments (I’ll have to approve, as I have to approve links) because I would love to see this list grow. So, in no particular order, enjoy.
I’ve become hooked on TANGLED and this scene never fails to make my imagination soar.
I’ve always loved the muppets, because they make me believe in everything.
Jack Johnson. Enough said.
I also thought I would share some of the things I have in my office for inspiration, because they too reflect my belief in magic:

- Some inspiration from Japan
- I started collecting miniature furniture as a child. I never got the dollhouse, but now some of that collection lives on my walls.
- Trees, colors, all magical. We bought this during our visits to National Parks.
- Uh, never wake a sleeping dragon. (Another Sawdust Festival purchase)
- I love pigs, so my sister gave me this. You can’t go wrong with a smiling pig.
- Sawdust Festival 1999 poster, I loved this. Sorry for the strange angle, I was trying not to get glare from the window opposite.
- Somehow my minis began to include other things.
- I believe that Steve built this mini country store for me when I was collecting miniatures, and the pig is supposed to be hanging like a pub sign (gift from my parents)
The artist for the Sawdust posters is Ron Rodecker, and you can find more of his work here.
Join me in a land of wonder, and add some magical things below.

I love Tangled too! Yay for Disney and Muppets!

Not surprised, twin from another mother and generation and continent. LOL

Ok. Thomas is OBSESSED with Tangled. The lantern scene is his favorite. Without fail, he sticks his face against the TV and just says “Whoooa. Wow. Whooaa”. I just think it’s wonderful to feel so easily awed

Thomas and I are going to be best buddies someday.

I love miniature room boxes.

Me too, they make me imagine all kinds of htings.

I have my grandfather’s mail sorting box from his years as a rural mail carrier in Kansas. It is filled with many of my favorite things—a few of my great-grandmother’s books, my silver baby mug, a collection of buttons from my grandmother, a glass heart given to me long ago, etc., etc. I consider the box and its contents entirely magical.

What a truly magical container and collection. The wooden boxes that hold my magical items are older printer boxes, where they would sort letters. I don’t know where I got them, but I love them because some of my magic lies in letters and words.

Now that is such an uplifting post! It is so nice to see what inspires and keeps us sane!
Nov 03, 2011 @ 17:46:11
But did you notice that the things that keep me sane all have to do with fantasy, magic, and believing in things people would find me crazy for?

my 29 year old daughter and I went to see Tangled together. One of the things I love about her is that she knows how to be silly and filled with child-like wonder. Oh we need more wonder and magic in our days. Love the things you surround yourself with. thank you for sharing these bits of wonder with us.

Tangled on the big screen was a truly magical experience. I love going to watch “children’s” movies even with no child in tow.

Okay, I have, indeed, been living under a rock (or in Haiti, Vietnam, ?), as I have never heard of Tangled. Sad, isn’t it?
Love the stuff you have in your office, Lisa!

Kathy,
You were living in Haiti, so that is acceptable. Plus you don’t have children so I’m sure some of those movies slide under your radar. Tangled is the story of Rapunzel, but with a much better twist. I highly recommend it.
As I was taking pictures in my office I kept thinking, I would love to have a piece of Kathy’s art hanging in my home somewhere.

My equivalent to the muppets clip is Kermit the Frog singing Rainbow Connection. These days I seem to rely on the written word for my magic, which you’re definitely helping to supply! I just love that you know what you need to surround yourself with – I need to give this some thought.

That’s one of my favorites too, but this one jumped into my head first.
