And So Begins Another Year

Roly Poly Lisa

And so begins another year . . .
without a parade, or a trumpet call,
without clamor or brilliance.

It sneaks in
a whisper of time moving forward
hints of brightness to chase in the distance

Yet the future still unknown.

As one year begins
another one ends
full of wishes fulfilled
as well as empty promises.

The year ahead lies open
to promise, to potential, to dreams.
The year behind
a journey that has found completion

in this day.
And so begins another year . . .
